A resident of Grand Junction, Colorado, Andrew Parro is an accomplished swim coach and exercise science professional. He has extensive experience developing athletes and building successful swim programs at the collegiate, club, and high school levels. Currently serving as associate head swimming coach at Colorado Mesa University, Andrew Parro oversees recruiting, manages training group assignments, and assists with swim program administration and operations.
Throughout his career, Andrew Parro has combined scientific training principles with mentorship to create high-performing teams and athletes. Before Colorado Mesa, he served as head swimming coach at Illinois Institute of Technology, where he developed the university’s first NCAA Championship participant and led the team to a conference championship. He won the 2020 Liberal Arts Conference Coach of the Year while at the institute.
Before joining the Illinois Institute of Technology, Andrew Parro was the head swimming and diving coach at Whitney Young High School, where he developed four NISCA All-American Swimmers and won four CPS conference titles. He was a two-time CPS Coach of the Year and three-time IHSA Sectional Coach of the Year. He has served on the CSCAA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll Committee and the IHSA Swimming and Diving Advisory Board.
Outside of academic institutions, Andrew Parro was the aquatic director and head swim coach at Saddle and Cycle Club in Chicago, Illinois. He also founded Six Point Aquatics, growing it from six athletes to 80 in five years. He has an MS in exercise science from Concordia University Chicago.
